Membership

The Nursing Consortium of Florida’s principal mission is to identify and address matters of concern to the nursing profession in Florida. Members are currently based throughout the southern half of the Florida peninsula, from the Florida Keys through the Treasure Coast and from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Myers. The Nursing Consortium of Florida unites nursing practice and education to foster greater collaboration by the leaders in the profession and works to address the region’s need for culturally and technically competent nurses, by cultivating interest in nursing careers among middle and high school students, by improving the public perception of nursing, and by supporting increased funding for nursing education and for the implementation of strategic interventions and research aimed at establishing best practices in the recruitment, development, and retention of a quality nursing workforce well suited to Florida’s rich diversity.

The Nursing Consortium of Florida has long distinguished itself for effectively cultivating interest in nursing careers among middle and high school students, for improving the public perception of nursing, and for supporting increased funding for nursing education and for the implementation of strategic interventions and research aimed at establishing best practices in the recruitment, development, and retention of a quality nursing workforce. The Nursing Consortium of Florida organizes two educational conferences each year that bring together current and emerging nurse leaders for exceptional learning and networking opportunities, and numerous programs throughout the year for the membership that help further the Consortium’s mission.

Nurse employees of Nursing Consortium of Florida member organizations receive regular e-newsletters on topics of interest, they are also eligible for discounted rates when registering to attend Consortium educational conferences, and member organizations receive a $500.00 discount when sponsoring or exhibiting at a Consortium conference. There are numerous programs offered throughout the year for the membership that help further the Consortium’s mission. In addition to the Conference Planning committee, members can participate on the Community Engagement committee which promotes and facilitates the participation of nurse leaders on community and foundation boards, the Youth Outreach committee which organizes programming to enlighten middle and high school students on the many career options available to those who pursue a career in nursing, and the Recruitment and Retention committee which has assessed the effects of the COVID pandemic on nursing, developed strategies for creating a more resilient and high performing nurse workforce, and is monitors and supports progress underway.

The Nursing Consortium of Florida is truly an active collaboration of nursing leaders and those that share their concerns. Each member organization brings its unique perspectives and leverages their core competencies and resources on the initiatives of greatest interest to them. All have found that membership in the Nursing Consortium of Florida provides a unique forum for purposeful networking, and the result has been the fostering of a greater degree of understanding, trust, and collegiality than is typical in other markets. The Nursing Consortium of Florida has helped accelerate the evolution and adoption of best practices by fostering a tradition of sharing and building on the insights and innovations of one another to deliver better care and advance nurse leader development.

The Nursing Consortium of Florida also administers the centralized clinical placement system (CCPS) which facilitates the scheduling of student nurse clinical experiences for more than 140 schools of nursing and hospitals in Florida. The CCPS is a secure web based scheduling solution that greatly reduces the time required to schedule student cohorts by representatives of educational and clinical partners and provides enhanced management reporting capabilities and real-time viewing of the placement cycle process, agreed to placements, and student compliance with orientation requirements. Participation in the CCPS is available to all clinical sites and educational institutions in Florida.
