Dean Tony Umadhay has over thirty years of experience as a clinician, hospital administrator, and educator. Migrating from his native Philippines, he sought opportunities as a Registered Nurse in the United States to better support his family. He obtained his BSN from University of Santo Tomas in Manila; MSN in Nurse Anesthesiology at Florida International University; and his PhD at Barry. He has deep connections and strong affiliations with South Florida community health leaders and hospital organizations. He joined the Barry faculty in 2006 and was appointed program director in 2008. He also served as Interim Chair of Nursing and associate dean for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. He earned the rank of professor of anesthesiology and teaches across disciplines, bringing his expertise to a wide range of students.

Dean Umadhay is recognized nationally as a leader in his field as evidenced by grant awards, elections, and appointments by nursing professional groups, and achievement awards, including the Excellence in Nursing Education Award by the University of Santo Tomas Nurses Association International. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, presented at regional, national, and international meetings, and is dedicated to advance social justice through community service and philanthropy.
