Panel Session:
Nursing Excellence and The Pursuit Thereof
Location: Main Stage
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am
I served in the US Army from 1991 to 1998. During that time, I was a Combat Medic and then a Licensed Vocational Nurse. I worked in large medical centers (FAMC, BAMC) and in small community hospitals (DACH) and served in many roles as expected of a professional solider. After my honorable discharge, I continued my education and earned my ASN. With my RN license in hand, I started working in an IMCU and was quickly promoted to clinical manager. I knew my true destination was nursing education, so I continued my journey, earned an MSN/Ed and secured a full-time position as a faculty member. In three years, I was promoted to program director and six years later I became the program director for both the ASN and ABSN programs. In 2021, I was appointed to the Nurse Educator Seat on the Florida Board of Nursing. I am serving my home state much as I served the nation years ago. In the Fall of 2022, I was selected as the Chief Nursing Administrator for Keiser University. My experience has created an innovative, autonomous, and resourceful nurse leader. I am most noted for my leadership skills, motivating and supplying a positive atmosphere in the workplace. I believe in a healthy working environment, so I chose to focus on civility in a nursing education environment for my doctoral project.
