Although there is a dire shortage of nurses, the outlook for the nursing profession remains bright.

According to the Occupation Outlook Handbook of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, with more than two million jobs, registered nurses account for the largest healthcare occupation.

In fact, the profession is one of the 10 occupations projected to have the largest numbers of new jobs. Meanwhile, salaries for RNs couldn’t be better. Nursing wages are considered to be above average, particularly for advanced practice nurses.
